JEANNE MICHON NAMED AUTUMNFEST GRAND MARSHAL

Woonsocket – Executive Director of New Beginnings Kitchen, Jeanne Michon has been selected as the Grand Marshal of 2022 Autumnfest Celebration by the Autumnfest Steering Committee.

“I was floored,” said Michon when the announcement was made. Michon went on to say, “It is very humbling to learn that I was worthy of this honor. I want thank the Mayor, Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, and the Woonsocket City Council for their citations as well. I look forward to being at all the Autumnfest events.”

Besides being the Founder and Executive Director of New Beginnings Kitchen, Jeanne is a Board Member of Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative (DWC), Board Member of Woonsocket Tots and a member of the Woonsocket Rotary. She also volunteers her time with the Levitt Amp Concert Series every summer. For the past 2 Autumnfests, Jeanne has worked tirelessly behind the scenes cooking food in the R & R tent keeping members of Rotary, Autumnfest, City Workers and entertainment personnel well fed during the 3-day event.

Not only does Jeanne make sure that people in need get a meal, she works with other organizations to ensure that, if needed, people will get connected to meet whatever need they may have even if it is not food related.

The tradition has become to surprise the Grand Marshal recipient with the announcement. This year the Jeanne was brought to an Autumnfest meeting on Tuesday April 26th when Judy Sullivan, Autumfest General Chairperson and the Autumnfest Steering Committee made the announcement.

Sullivan said, “It’s an honor to name Jeanne Michon the 2022 Autumfest Grand Marshal. She is a champion to many people that need the assistance she provides. Our community is lucky and blessed to have her. Jeanne exemplifies Autumfest.”

Jeanne Michon is married to her husband Bob and has one daughter, Aubrey. Jeanne will be honored at the Autumnfest Kick-Off Party. That event will be held in September of this year.
